The article "Do Animals Have a Homeland? Ancient Greeks on the Cultural Identity of Animals" written by Lucyna Kostuch explores how ancient Greeks showed animals and valued them in everyday life. Infusing anthrozoology into her paper, Kostuch does a phenomenal job describing the complex relationships seen between ancient Greek civilizations and their animal companions.

"The role of animals in ancient Greek culture has been discussed in a variety of contexts, — the relation between human and animal, the moral status of animals, animals in the works of naturalists, animals in tragedy, animals in art, zooarchaeological research" - Lucyna Kostuch
